Kairan joined the team in October 2021 as a DPhil student working on NEMS nanowire filter banks and nanowire photodetectors based on phase-change materials. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Imperial College London and his Master’s degree in Micro- and Nanotechnology Enterprise from the University of Cambridge with a thesis on thin-film piezotronics in gallium nitride heterostructures in Professor Rachel Oliver’s group. He has worked on the characterization of inorganic perovskite quantum dots using electrochemistry techniques and the production of QLED devices in one internship. He enjoys hiking, bouldering, and playing tennis.
